Home Foam® Wins ICC-ES Approval
October 11 2007, Concord, Ontario: Home Foam®, manufactured by Home Insulation Corporation, has received an evaluation report (ESR#2360) from International Codes Council - Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) providing evidence that the low-density, spray-in-place foam insulation meets code requirements. Building officials, architects, contractors, specifiers, designers and others utilize the ICC-ES Evaluation Reports to provide a basis for using or approving Home Foam® in construction projects following the 2006 International Building Code (IBC) and the 2006 International Residential Code (IRC).
ICC-ES President John Nosse explains why ICC-ES Evaluation Reports are so important: “Home Insulation Corporation can now reference the evaluation report to ensure building officials and the building industry that Home Foam® meets I-Code requirements,” Nosse said. “Building departments have a long history of using evaluation reports, and ICC-ES operates as a technical resource for the building department. Final approval of building products is always in the hands of the local regulatory agency.”
ICC-ES thoroughly examined Home Insulation Corporation's product information, test reports, calculations, quality control methods and other factors to ensure that Home Foam® is code compliant.
"Home Foam® was inspired by the vision of advancing the insulation industry with improved products that deliver better performance while safeguarding personal health and safety," said Home Insulation Corporation president, Simon Asaro. "Our mission has always been to make the best possible product while promoting foam products in general as superior to inefficient and outdated technologies. We are continuing our research and development of new products, and believe we are headed toward a day when potentially hazardous products will no-longer be used to insulate our workplaces and homes."
Asaro founded the Home Insulation Corporation in 1978 and conceived the idea of manufacturing a spray-foam insulation in the 80s. Following more than a decade of development, Home Foam® was launched in 2006 and quickly became an industry benchmark. Now bolstered by ICC-ES approval, Home Foam® is destined to be embraced by architects, engineers and builders alike.
ICC-ES is the United States’ leading source of technical information on building products and building technology for code compliance. A nonprofit, public-benefit corporation, ICC-ES performs technical evaluations of building products, components, methods and materials. The evaluation process culminates with the issuance of reports on compliance with the major U.S. building codes, which are available at www.icc-es.org.
ICC-ES is a subsidiary of the International Code Council, a membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention that develops the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools. Most U.S. cities, counties and states that adopt codes choose the International Codes developed by the International Code Council.
Home Insulation Corporation is very pleased that its Home Foam® spray-in-place insulation is now among the select group of products approved by ICC-ES. A leading-edge insulation system for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential buildings, including single family homes, Home Foam® provides high R-Value along with such features as excellent air-sealing properties and unsurpassed regard for personal health and safety.
Installed only by trained professionals, Home Foam® inflates to form into spaces and fill nooks and crannies. Suited to most any application, Home Foam's® ability to fill unusual shapes and find its way behind obstructions, such as air ducts and pipes, makes it an obvious choice.
Curing in less than a minute to form a permanent barrier that retains its shape, strength and thermal performance, Home Foam® prevents air leakage, provides good sound isolation and eliminates vibration of plumbing and duct work. What's more, thanks to Home Insulation Corporation's commitment to health and safety, the SRC (Saskatchewan Research Council) advised that even sensitive individuals may take occupancy just 24 hours after application. Home Foam® does not contain formaldehyde, fibrous particulate, HFCs1, CFCs2 or HCFCs3 and is a zero-ODP4 product.
Home Insulation Corporation has reinforced its distribution arrangements in order to ensure the smooth and efficient supply of Home Foam® as demand rises.
